Eritrea's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for wheat ranged from 443 tonnes in 2003 to 2,665 tonnes in 2007. The estimated loss percentages have been unchanged over time at 12.9%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest wheat loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Eritrea, on average the highest quantity of wheat production occurs in Debub (Southern).
