Guinea's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for fonio ranged from 45,140 tonnes in 2010 to 60,289 tonnes in 2016. The estimated loss percentages have been unchanged over time at 11.7%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest fonio loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Guinea, on average the highest quantity of fonio production occurs in Labé.
