Kenya's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for millet ranged from 4,779 tonnes in 2008 to 20,085 tonnes in 2020. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 12.4% and 21.0%.

Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest millet loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Kenya, on average the highest quantity of millet production occurs in Eastern. Regarding nutritional losses, the number of people whose annual energy (kcal) dietary requirements could have been met with the estimated millet lost postharvest ranged from 20,299 people in 2008 to 85,322 people in 2020.
