Kenya's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for wheat ranged from 29,129 tonnes in 2011 to 108,356 tonnes in 2010. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 13.2% and 22.8%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest wheat loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Kenya, on average the highest quantity of wheat production occurs in Rift Valley.
