Mali's estimated postharvest losses for fonio in 2022 was 3,555 tonnes or 11.6%.

In the value chain, the majority of the loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying, Threshing and Shelling, and then Winnowing. Highest estimated postharvest maize losses in tonnes were estimated to occur in Ségou.
