Mauritania, Millet, 2010

Mauritania's estimated postharvest losses for millet in 2010 was 855 tonnes or 8.8%.

As for nutrition 3 billion kcal were lost, which is the equivalent of more than 3 thousand people, in terms of annual nutritional dietary energy requirements. In the value chain, the majority of the loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying, Transport from field, and then Threshing and Shelling. Highest estimated postharvest maize losses in tonnes were estimated to occur in Hodh ech Chargui.
