Sudan, Millet, 2015

Sudan's estimated postharvest losses for millet in 2015 was 132,360 tonnes or 8.8% which had an estimated value of more than 87 million US dollar, which corresponds to 0.4% of national agricultural GDP.

As for nutrition 477 billion kcal were lost, which is the equivalent of more than 563 thousand people, in terms of annual nutritional dietary energy requirements. In the value chain, the majority of the loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying, Transport from field, and then Threshing and Shelling. Highest estimated postharvest maize losses in tonnes were estimated to occur in Darfur.
