Senegal, Millet, 2020

Senegal's estimated postharvest losses for millet in 2020 was 66,715 tonnes or 8.9% which had an estimated value of more than 32 million US dollar.

As for nutrition 242 billion kcal were lost, which is the equivalent of more than 291 thousand people, in terms of annual nutritional dietary energy requirements. In the value chain, the majority of the loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying, Market storage, and then Transport from field. Highest estimated postharvest maize losses in tonnes were estimated to occur in Kaffrine.
