Tanzania, Millet, 2010

Tanzania's estimated postharvest losses for millet in 2010 was 38,534 tonnes or 10.7%.

As for nutrition 139 billion kcal were lost, which is the equivalent of more than 168 thousand people, in terms of annual nutritional dietary energy requirements. In the value chain, the majority of the loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying, Transport from field, and then Winnowing. Highest estimated postharvest maize losses in tonnes were estimated to occur in Dodoma.
