Uganda's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for barley ranged from 524 tonnes in 2016 to 844 tonnes in 2017. The estimated loss percentages have been unchanged over time at 12.5%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest barley loss is estimated to be happening at Threshing and Shelling. In Uganda, on average the highest quantity of barley production occurs in Eastern.
