Zambia's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for barley ranged from 161 tonnes in 2010 to 649 tonnes in 2012. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 3.9% and 4.2%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest barley loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Zambia, on average the highest quantity of barley production occurs in Copperbelt.
