Burkina Faso, Millet, 2005

Burkina Faso's estimated postharvest losses for millet in 2005 was 123,654 tonnes or 10.3%.

As for nutrition 450 billion kcal were lost, which is the equivalent of more than 544 thousand people, in terms of annual nutritional dietary energy requirements. In the value chain, the majority of the loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying, Market storage, and then Transport from field. Highest estimated postharvest maize losses in tonnes were estimated to occur in Sahel.
