Côte d'Ivoire's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for sorghum ranged from 3,727 tonnes in 2003 to 4,550 tonnes in 2002. The estimated loss percentages have been unchanged over time at 12.4%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest sorghum loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Côte d'Ivoire, on average the highest quantity of sorghum production occurs in Savanes. Regarding nutritional losses, the number of people whose annual energy (kcal) dietary requirements could have been met with the estimated sorghum lost postharvest ranged from 15,294 people in 2003 to 18,670 people in 2002.
