Cameroon's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for millet ranged from 27,800 tonnes in 2000 to 159,384 tonnes in 2014. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 9.1% and 9.4%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest millet loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Cameroon, on average the highest quantity of millet production occurs in Far North. Regarding nutritional losses, the number of people whose annual energy (kcal) dietary requirements could have been met with the estimated millet lost postharvest ranged from 120,823 people in 2000 to 692,714 people in 2014.
