Gambia, Sorghum, All years

Gambia's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for sorghum were 2,435 tonnes and have not changed over the time covered by Aphlis. The estimated loss percentages have been unchanged over time at 12.4%.

Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest sorghum loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Gambia, on average the highest quantity of sorghum production occurs in Upper River. Regarding nutritional losses, the number of people whose annual energy (kcal) dietary requirements could have been met with the estimated sorghum lost postharvest ranged from 10,177 people in 2022 to 10,177 people in 2003.
