Guinea's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for maize ranged from 105,116 tonnes in 2010 to 147,297 tonnes in 2018. The estimated loss percentages have been unchanged over time at 18.0%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest maize loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Guinea, on average the highest quantity of maize production occurs in Labé. Regarding nutritional losses, the number of people whose annual energy (kcal) dietary requirements could have been met with the estimated maize lost postharvest ranged from 436,796 people in 2010 to 612,073 people in 2018.
