Togo's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for millet ranged from 2,523 tonnes in 2018 to 7,742 tonnes in 2007. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 11.2% and 13.2%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest millet loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Togo, on average the highest quantity of millet production occurs in Savanes. Regarding nutritional losses, the number of people whose annual energy (kcal) dietary requirements could have been met with the estimated millet lost postharvest ranged from 10,888 people in 2018 to 33,408 people in 2007.
