Tanzania, Millet, All years

Tanzania's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for millet ranged from 24,310 tonnes in 2003 to 43,625 tonnes in 2009. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 10.6% and 10.9%.

Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest millet loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Tanzania, on average the highest quantity of millet production occurs in Dodoma. Regarding nutritional losses, the number of people whose annual energy (kcal) dietary requirements could have been met with the estimated millet lost postharvest ranged from 106,330 people in 2003 to 190,810 people in 2009.
